First up on Court 1 was a meeting between Dayana Yastremska and Magda Linette who recently caused an upset former Birmingham champion Ons Jabeur in Paris.
Dayana was the quickest out of the blocks, the Ukrainian went up a double break and had a 4-1 lead over her opponent. Magda would claw one break back and trailed 3-4 but Dayana kept it together despite a fall on set point but as Magda left the ball the set was sealed by Dayana.
The second set stayed with serve for the opening games until Dayana got that key break to lead 3-2 at the change over and from there on in sealed her win against Magda Linette winning 6-4 6-3.
