It was a first time back to Birmingham since 2015 for Simona Halep, since her debut she has gone onto win two majors including her Wimbledon title and this win over Lesia was her first match on grass since her Wimbledon title.
Simona found herself in trouble on serve at the beginning of the set but the Romanian soon found her rhythm and I always love watching her live, the court coverage and shot selection was at its best.

After taking the first set 6-4 there was a break in proceedings at 3-3 as Tsurenko ran off court where she was seen by the doctor having previously been given a tablet. The Ukrainian returned but didn’t settle on serve as Simona Halep won 3 of the last 4 games to extend her winning to 8 on grass and 8/8 vs Tsurenko.
