With his 50th win of 2021 Cameron Norrie keeps his hopes of being in Turin alive and firm pressure on Hubert Hurkacz and Casper Ruud

Tennis is a sport that moves quite quickly.

On Monday night British fans were not big fans of Dominik Koepfer in Paris as he saved seven match points to beat Andy Murray but on Thursday fans will be hoping for another win for the German to help keep Cam Norrie’s hopes of playing at the ATP Finals alive.

Dominik wasn’t even in the draw to begin with, he lost 3-6 0-6 to Kecmanovic in qualifying but came in as a lucky loser following Jenson Brooksby withdrawal having come through qualifying himself. It was a late change and in three dramatic sets the German took out Andy Murray in a third set tie-break and then on Wednesday took out Felix Auger Aliassime in two sets to set up a meeting on Thursday with Hubert Hurkacz who is also eyeing up a place in Turin.

Cam Norrie who is the 10th seed this week in Paris came through a second round battle 6-3 6-4 against the in-form Reilly Opelka and on a slow indoor hard court did very well.

Defeats in Paris for Jannik Sinner (vs Alcaraz), Felix Auger Aliassime and Aslan Karatsev mean it is now a three horse race for the final two spots.

Casper Ruud is now looking over his shoulder with Hurkacz being him and Norrie on his toes with the current points going into Wednesday standing at:

ATP Finals Cut Off – 3460

Casper Ruud – 3185 (win = 3275)
Hubert Hurkacz – 3045 (win = 3135)
Cameron Norrie – 2955 (win = 3045)

All Cameron can do now is win and between Hubert and himself it couldn’t be closer.

Casper Ruud will be up against Marcos Giron who took out Diego Schwartzman.

Hubert Hurkacz will face Dominik Koepfer.

Cameron Norrie will face Taylor Fritz who ended the already qualified Andrey Rublev.

At this time all you can do is win your own matches however these players will have an eye on Stefanos Tsitsipas who retired down 2-4 to lucky loser Alexei Popyrin on Wednesday.
