A Sunday afternoon stroll, Stefanos Tsitsipas is back in the quarter finals!

Performances don’t get better than that. For the fourth time in his career Stefanos Tsitsipas is into the final eight of a major and has never lost a quarter final and as of yet, has never won a semi-final.

I don’t know if Stefanos had someone to be but this performance from mightily impressive from the Greek. I have him as an outsider and lets not kid ourselves the tests will get tougher. The good news is that Djokovic, Nadal and Federer are on opposite sides of the draw but the way he is playing he is certainly putting his name firmly in the hat!

From the beginning of the match there was an intent from Tsitsipas, he served well and opened up the court to pull Careno Busta all over the place. There aren’t many players who create open space and play into it as well as the 22 year old who immediately broke and never looked back.

Credit where it is due to the Spaniard, he did go after Stefanos’ second serve and got some good cheap return winners in the opening set but at no point did he ever look under pressure taking the opener 6-3.

The athleticism of the guy around the court was beautiful to watch him construct sublime clay court tennis saw him speed ahead 4-0 in the second set which he then took on serve 6-2.

The opening game of the third turned into a bit of a marathon for Carreno Busta who saved some early break points in a game which felt like match point but after 8 minutes got on the board!

All of a sudden a turn in events as Carreno Busta for the first time in the match broke the 22 year olds serve and led 2-0. Break point came for Stefanos but could not be converted as the Spaniard consolidated his break of serve.

The set continued on serve, credit to Tsitsipas who didn’t panic and continued to create opportunities on the Spaniards serve and forced the forehand error down 2-4 to bring the set back on serve. He just looked like he was in control and even down 0-3 I felt like he was going to win in three sets still, that’s just how good he is playing right now and he sealed a decisive break at 5-5 before going onto serve it out.
