Unfortunately it will be some time until we potentially see Juan Martin Del Potro once again.
The Argentine defines the phrase bouncing back. Wrist injuries have been a major factor in his career but in 2018 he had to call it a day in Shanghai after tearing his patella in his right knee.
We didn’t see the Argentine until Delray Beach 4 months later but then he decided to wait further until staging a bigger return in Madrid followed by his sensational tennis in Rome and then Roland Garros.
Sadly a slip on the grass in June 2019 down at Queens Club forced the Argentine into another enforced break injuring his knee once more and going under surgery for the second time. Juan Martin slipped against Shapovalov but carried on to win before having to withdraw from the competition.
Since then we have not seen the Argentine who has gone onto have his third surgery and this week his fourth surgery on his right knee.
Del Potro put a post on his Instagram earlier this week:
Since then he has posted an update and is currently recovering from his fourth knee operation.
I do hope that all goes well for Juan Martin during this latest stage of rehab, his plan has been and still remains to be in Tokyo for the Olympic Games an event where he has made incredible memories.
