Novak Djokovic wins in Dubai to remain unbeaten in 2020!

Novak Djokovic was lucky to escape the grasp of Gael Monfils on Friday night in Dubai.

The world number one was in a giveaway mood as he feel 2-6 1-3 down to the Frenchman looking for his first win in seventeen attempts against The Serb.

In the second set tie-break Djokovic saved three consecutive match points against the Frenchman but only won a point on a his own serve trailing 5-6 in the tie-break.

Novak went onto win to extend his winning run against Monfils to seventeen wins to none and back in the Dubai final knowing he wouldn’t get away with such poor play against Tsitsipas on Saturday.

It was a very good start to the match by both players who settled very quickly. The world number one simply came out of the blocks like a man on a mission. The forehand was firing and the drop shots were causing issues for the Greek.

It was at 3-4 in the first set when Djokovic broke the Greek’s serve in a bit of a smash and grab set against the 21 year old to lead in the final.

The second set started to see a bit more tension on the Tsitsipas’ serve. He remained close but mistakes at 2-2 15-30 through Djokovic an opening which he took but he squandered his next service game as they were level again at 3-3.

The serve troubled him again this time at 4-4 with that same scoreline of 15-30 and that opening was all the world number one needed and after just 77 minutes Djokovic would serve for the title.

The level in performance from Djokovic compared to Friday was outstanding and sealed the title with a backhand winner down the line to extend his winning run to 18-0 in 2020 and his third title of the year, his fifth in Dubai!
