Has the Australian Open ever had a more chaotic day? I don’t think so but before the chaos let’s look for some normality.
Novak Djokovic was in a ruthless mood as he defeated Yoshihito Nishioka 6-3 6-2 6-2.
Ash Barty likewise took 78 minutes in a 6-3 6-2 win against Elena Rybakina
Petra Kvitova continues to show her title ambitions with a 6-1 6-2 win over Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The day had an emotional moment as well as we saw the end of Caroline Wozniacki’s career. The Dane gave her all and bowed out on an incredible 994 career matches to Ons Jabeur who became the first Tunisian to make the fourth round of a major.
Surprises were in stall for us as well!
Serena Williams fell 4-6 7-6 5-7 to Qiang Wang. Four months ago the Chinese number one lost 6-1 6-0 to Serena in 44 minutes in New York and it was fair to say she learnt her lesson from the drubbing!
Naomi Osaka also found her run come to an end. The defending champion spoke about the thought of defending the title and she just didn’t get any consistency going as Coco Gauff was once again too powerful recording her biggest win to date!
As the day began to draw to a close in Melbourne Stefanos Tsitsipas was on court against Milos Raonic and the Canadian caused a big upset as he looks for some of his best tennis once again.
Marin Cilic found some much needed form and it was good to see him grind out a big win again and show some of his best tennis as he saw off Roberto Bautista Agut. Marin did get extremely tight in the fourth set but the guy has badly struggled for results over the last twelve months so to see him come through in five was soo good!
Finally minutes before 1:00am in Melbourne Roger Federer won his 100th match at the Australian Open.
It took five sets against John Millman who was two points away from the win but Roger won a massive six points in a row in the match tie-break to secure his landmark win.
