Two weeks, two titles! Andrey Rublev heads to Melbourne in a ruthless mood!

Andrey Rublev was one of those who spoke about his disappointed at having to miss the ATP Cup.

Rules state that the top two player in singles and doubles leaving Rublev just outside the top 20 as the third highest ranked Russian but the 22 year old has had the best start out of the lot!

Two weeks, one in Qatar and one in Adelaide and two pieces of silverware.

Andrey just recently hit 100 wins on tour and will head to Melbourne Park in perfect form winning eight out of eight matches and titles against Corentin Moutet and Lloyd Harris respectively.

In Qatar the Russian didn’t drop a set but Adelaide was more of a test coming through against the inform Brit Dan Evans in three sets and Felix Auger-Aliassime winning 7-6 6-7 6-4 against the Canadian.

He was ruthless and rampant during the opening couple of weeks.

He does have quite a strong serve but his baseline game especially his forehand has really taken part opponents this in both his title wins.

Rublev will begin his Australian Open campaign against Christopher O’Connell. The Australian is ranked at 116 in the world and will play on Tuesday.

Andrey’s two titles in two weeks to begin the season is something that hasn’t been done since 2004.

The last player to win two titles at the beginning of the season was Dominik Hrbaty. Dominik won in Adelaide and Auckland and in the latter beat a certain Rafael Nadal in the final.
