Sinner the Winner! 8th seed & wildcard wins NextGen Finals in Milan!

Jannik Sinner was never in Milan to just make up the numbers however little did we expect the Italian to walk away with the title.

To put it into perspective Sinner had only played 16 tour level career matches coming into the event and after 21 has a title!

Sinner who is 18 trains with Ricardo Piatti at his academy and there have been plenty of rumours he will join Sharapova in 2020.

The Italian who made the semi-finals in Antwerp recently his best ATP run has been overlooked for the Davis Cup and they may regret that now.

He has just gone for it. There haven’t been many faults in his game throughout the week.

I am a big fan of De Minaur but wow he took him apart. He served incredibly smartly during the match even when down break points saving all nine.

This was the performance of the week by a mile, he painted the lines and the forehand was simply on fire. I liked how he served down the T on the ad side into De Minaur’s forehand and climbed all over the shortfall from the Australian.

It was perfection! I can’t fault the performance at all.

The first two winners of the NextGen Finals (Hyeon Chung and Stefanos Tsitsipas) have gone onto make the semi-finals of the Australian Open in the following year!

Well done to Jannik and Alex for a great tournament!
