For the second time in her career and for the first time in four years Donna Vekic is back into the third round at Roland Garros.
The Croat operating at a career high has had a solid on the tour and I’m pleased she is getting the recognition she deserves and her results are backing up as well.
It’s easy to forget she is only 22 and has played over 400 matches on the tour which is quite remarkable!
The first set was a right off for Donna, she just didn’t get going at all. If anything it was like what I saw from Naomi Osaka in the first set of her win yesterday it was bad.
Donna was quick to react losing the first set 1-6 to winning the second set 6-1.
Credit to Rebecca Peterson she didn’t go away despite Donna taking a 4-0 lead in the third set and it looked like being 5-0 she broke back and got the set to 4-2 but the Croat continued to be aggressive from the baseline and got the reward with a break before serving out for her second win in Paris.
