Take a bow Stefanos Tsitsipas.
To say RLA was shaking Sunday night would have been an understatement.
The level or performance from the Greek star was simply exceptional and the composure was second to none.
I can wax lyrical about the performance all night long but there are aspects of it which really took my attention here in Melbourne.
Frustration? During the second set Tsitsipas looked like a man on the edge of showing his frustration and I genuinely thought that he was moments away from breaking his racket and then set points arrived for Federer!
Federer in set two had multiple set points and you could cut the tension with a knife. The level of tennis off the racket of Tsitsipas was simply stunning!
I’ve seen a lot of Tsitsipas over the last year following his game closely and the way he opens up the court with the forehand has always impressed me but his movement was on a level I have never witnessed from him before.
Sometimes in the past I have seen players turn around situations against him by hitting back behind him but he was just on top of it all!
Next up for him is Agut who this season has been on a roll and he will provide a stubborn test to break down.
