Which lady will rule in New York?

The New York field is not short on previous champions.

In fact there are 7 former champions at Flushing Meadows.

They are…

Serena, Venus, Kuznetsova, Stosur, Sharapova, Kerber and Sloane Stephens

But will it be one of these ladies?

I don’t think so, if I had to chose one it would be Kerber but the consistency isn’t there!

My favourite for the title would have to be Simona Halep. This ‘Achilles issue’ for me was a get out and get to New York card, she’s been on site ever since and practicing.

That defeat to Kiki Bertens will hurt but Halep’s mental strength after her heartbreak in Australia was incredible, the way she played at Roland Garros was phenomenal!

For me she is the favourite!

Other contenders?

Wozniacki and Kvitová, they have the know how and experience but pulling it all together is the challenge.

Others, if Sloane is on her day she will be dangerous and the day off between matches will suit Serena.
