Novak Djokovic has finally won in Cincinnati.
THe saying goes if at first you don’t succeed try and try again and at the sixth time of asking the former world number one is champion in Cincinnati.
The win against Federer also meant he is the first player to ever win all Masters 1000 events which is a fantastic record as he sealed his 31st Masters 1000 title just two behind Nadal who leads the tally with 33.
The performance is something I will go in more depth about tomorrow looking at Djokovic’ pure brilliance but also will explore Federer’s performance which had a whiff of panic to it.
To have won all of these titles is some achievement and is magnified by the way his year has gone following surgery, recovery, having to change his serve and then winning Wimbledon and now this in Cincinnati is quite something.
Djokovic has 31 titles I wouldn’t be surprised to see him climb ahead of Rafa before the season ends and to be honest I wouldn’t be against him in New York.
