Some stories are indescribable. Petra Kvitova was attacked in her home at Christmas, the two time former champion was stabbed in her left hand (her playing hand) and there were serious concerns whether she’d play again.
Few months later after recovering from surgery she was back on the tennis courts practicing and arrived down the road from me in Birmingham and won the Aegon Classic, amazing! She then came back to Wimbledon things didn’t go to plan but in New York where dreams are made of she put on a show on Ashe against Garbine Muguruza to see off the Spaniard who I’d say has been the best player on the tour these last 4/5 months 7-6 6-3.
Unfortunately for Petra she ran into another inspiration in world sport and that was Venus Williams in the early hours of yesterday morning falling in three close sets to the American.
A phrase used a lot in tennis and one I will finish on…
“A picture paints a thousand words”
