Preparations for Indian Wells could not have gone better for Andy Murray. The British number one announced at the beginning of the week he had been suffering from shingles but was fit and firing once again as he lifted his 45th career title.
During the first couple of games the two exchanged breaks until the Spaniard found a 3-1 lead but after then the world number one found his feet there was no looking back as he won 6-3 6-2.
Fernando’s biggest weapon is the forehand but Murray did a good job in targeting that corner with the backhand.
You might look at that play as risky as Fernando’s forehand is a big weapon but because Murray went into the shot with little chance of Fernando getting a good read on it turned into a nightmare for the Spaniard.
Either way it was a good week for both on the tour with Murray in good form as he goes looking for his first Indian Wells title and for Fernando a very good week for him as he saw off Mahut and Agut on route to the final.
