Anne Keothavong’s team has done it! After a long weekend of tennis it all came down to a crunch match with Croatia and both teams certainly put on a show as Great Britain edge it in the penultimate rubber.
In the first match of the Heather Watson delivered the goods once again to put Great Britain 1-0 up and then it all came down to Johanna Konta against Ana Konjuh but the Croat put on an inspired performance to see of the top 10 player.
In the deciding doubles Anne Keothavong made her big decision to split up the team of Laura Robson and Jocelyn Rae who had already won three matches together this weekend and teamed together Johanna Konta and Heather Watson.
The first set went the way of the Croatian team and at the beginning of the second set the two teams shared a number of breaks until the British team edged ahead and in the final set got that one break and served it out at 5-3 to send Great Britain into a play-off for the World Group II which the draw will be made on Tuesday and the tie’s will be played in April which could be Great Britain’s first home tie since 1993!
