A long wait but worth the wait!

Roger Federer went 1667 days without winning a major. Many including myself didn’t think we’d see the day again and how wrong we were. This years Australian Open has defied the odds, it was an emotional rollercoaster like no other and who knows what will happen over the next 10 months as the season has only just begun!

Roger Federer had a year interrupted by injury, misses about 7 months of tennis, goes into the Australian Open seeded 17th, defeats Nishikori, Wawrinka and Nadal over five sets in his first competitive tournament since Wimbledon of last year and wins his 18th Grand Slam it simply is outstanding!

Who knows what the rest of the year will hold for Roger, he could not have asked or dreamed for a better start.

Maybe he even had that seed of doubt in his mind as prior to Australian Open glory last weekend after losing four of his last five finals and not winning a Grand Slam since Wimbledon 2012.

It was a long wait but worth the wait, 18 Grand Slams. The greatest just got better!
