Dan Evans records first top 10 win against Dominic Thiem

British number three Dan Evans has edged closing to breaking into the top 50 in the world after recording his first top 10 win against number eight in the world Dominic Thiem who steamrolled through the first set but the Brit turned it around to make the semi-finals in Sydney.

Dan said the first set went as he would have expected with the Austrian taking full control taking it 6-3 but the Brit turned it around well to edge a close second set 6-4 and then in the third set it was basically a walk-over with Thiem who made the World Tour Finals just a few months ago picked up one game in a set where he looked disinterested especially in the last game as he was broken by Evans to lose the match with some horrendous errors.

Dan will now play Andrey Kuznetsov who he has played before at Wimbledon with Dan losing the match but a win for the Brit would not only see him in his first ATP tour final but also crack the top 50 in the world!
