Last week Thanasi Kokkinakis and Jordan Thompson received wildcards into the Brisbane doubles and well they stole the show with a first round win against Lucas Pouille and Stan Wawrinka followed by a win against the world number one team Pierre Hughes Herbet and Nicholas Mahut before finishing the week with a win against Muller and Querrey before a semi-final win against Nestor and Roger-Vasselin.
From winning the doubles together the two have now travelled to Sydney but this time aren’t on the same team as they face each other in round one of the tournament.
Both will be in Melbourne in about a weeks time but now they have a chance to impress once again before the first Grand Slam.
2016 was a bit of a write-off for Thanasi, he had quite a few injury issues and couldn’t build on early promise but has come back now and looks ready for the season.
Jordan Thompson on the other hand is a bit of an unknown on the tour. At the age of 22 he won his first tour match at Roland Garros last year and as well as winning the doubles with Thanasi he won a couple of singles matches including one against David Ferrer before losing to Kei Nishikori in the next round.
Who’s good run will keep going and who’s will come to an end?
