Tennis has a new number one. It is the first time since 2004 over 12 years since a player not called Djokovic, Nadal or Federer has been ranked world number one. That man is Andy Murray, the previous player was another Andy, Roddick 12 years ago.
It is bloody incredible. I’m lost for words and incredibly proud of Great Britain’s greatest ever sportsmen! He is an inspiration, in an era dominated by three of the best the world of tennis has ever seen he has achieved so much and will achieve so much more in the future.
To become world number one is the icing on the cake. Multiple Grand Slam champion, Davis Cup champion, 3 x Olympic medals, multiple Masters 1000 titles it just keeps on getting better.
Andy for me is such a great inspiration, the commitment and work he puts in is second to none. He has that never giving up attitude, he will get frustrated but it’s because he cares. That is what I love about him.
I have a picture in a frame of the moment Andy won the US Open and that was a significant moment and that picture symbolises what Andy is about. Commitment, passion and of course tears 🙂
World number one is just incredible. It’s been a long road and some may say it might only last for a week but not many people can say they were on top of the world.
Andy has received congratulations from many all over the world including Roger Federer who said this
Well done Andy!
