Svetlana Kuznetsova qualified for Singapore a day before the WTA Finals began.
The Russian won in Moscow which sealed her place in Singapore but then had to take a 10 hour flight and before you know it saved match points and defeated defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska in just under three hours!
Kuznetsova’s season has been sensational. Her season began with a title win in Sydney and ended with a title win in Moscow and was very consistent in between. This is the first time since 2009 that Kuznetsova has been at the WTA Finals and she continues to fight which is great to see and her top 10 ranking is fully deserved as is her place in Singapore.
This isn’t the first time this season Kuznetsova has beaten Radwanska after saving match point but did it in Wuhan a few weeks ago!
What a 48 hours for the Russian who even had a hair cut mid-match today…
