Stan the man strikes again! The Swiss number two has been exceptional in New York with the absence of Roger Federer as he claimed his third Grand Slam title upsetting Novak Djokovic.Opportunity is the word and Stan certainly took that, just to think he was match point down against Dan Evans a few matches before and is now champion!
Despite being a two time slam champion no one really saw Stan as a contender for the title and it’s not until later on he gets considered a contender and to get to the second week he did have to fight in his round one match against Verdasco and of course that epic battle with Evans.
With the decline of Federer and Nadal he has taken the opportunity and has taken his chance which is what this sport is all about.
Stan has now defeated Novak twice now in slam finals and to lose this final will be a massive blow to the world number one who has looked very vulnerable since winning Roland Garros.
