Former US Open champion Andy Murray was in majestic form late last night as the Brit demolished Grigor Dimitrov quite easily in straight sets winning 6-1 6-2 6-2 against the Bulgarian dropping just five games.
Prior to the match I was a tiny bit worried as Dimitrov had been in good form recently with some impressive performances and wins but Murray was all over the court from the first game to the last and to just drop 5 games in 3 sets against a player of Grigor’s talent is pretty impressive.
Every aspect of Murray’s game was top class against Grigor especially the forehand but what caught my eye the most was the backhand and the return of serve on the ad side of the court.

They say you are only as good as your second serve and stats show that Murray’s has improved a lot but just look how inside the baseline Murray is and he’s a second away from making contact with the backhand before Dimitrov can even settle on the baseline and the best thing about the backhand is the option it gives with the cross court or down the line and a player of Murray’s ability can quickly end the rally within two shots with either an immaculate return or closing play at the net.
