Venus Williams aiming for her 50th singles title in Stanford

Venus Williams has been coming to Stanford since 1998. The American has been one of the stories of the year and her run to the semi-finals at Wimbledon shows she still has soo much more to give on the tour.

It’s been a while since Venus last won the title in Stanford with her last victory being back in 2002 against Kim Clijsters in what was a great month for Venus winning the titles in San Diego and New Haven before falling to younger sister Serena in the city that never sleeps.

Venus turned 36 a month ago and I can’t see her stopping there. Once Venus is done in Stanford she is down to play in Montreal which will be the last tournament before jetting off to Rio to defend their Olympic Gold doubles title after winning the Wimbledon doubles title just over a week ago!

Venus recieves a BYE for R1 being the top seed and will be up against Krystina Pliskova or Magda Linette in round two.

Venus does look ready action as she looks for her 50th singles title

Younger sister Serena has also been spotted in Stanford this week but isn’t down to play just there to support her big sister.
