Dominika Cibulkova might just have to put her wedding on hold. The Eastbourne champion has looked in fine form at SW19 as she progresses to the quarter finals with her 9th win in a row on the grass and her second in this time against former finalist Agnieszka Radwanska and with her form you’d have to say potential contender right now.
The Slovakian started so well and I was surprised throughout the match that Dominika was allowed to shuffle on the centre of the court which is where she is most dangerous. Quite a lot of players are dangerous going forward but Domi is very good at grinding players down from the middle of the court looking for that inside-out forehand hitting 34 forehand winners against Radwanska.
The amount of times we saw Cibulkova being allowed to float in that centre of the court position by the baseline was staggering. I expected more variety from Aga and a bit more control in rallies. Time and time again we see Dominika hit that forehand cross court and break down the Radwanska defence with winners of just following in the forehand at the net to end the point.
Things did get quite tense in set two when no-one could hold serve for a little while but in set three at the very end the Slovakian turned on the style once again and deserved her win to advance to her second Wimbledon quarter final!
