Surprisingly Andy Murray has had a difficult path to the third round of Roland Garros. Many would have expected the British number one to win his two matches in three sets but has had to go the full distance in both against an experienced Radek Stepanek and a French wildcard called Mathias Bourgue playing his first Grand Slam event.
With how well Murray’s clay court season went beginning in Monte-Carlo and finishing with the title in Rome with wins against Nadal and Djokovic in this time his results have been a surprise struggling at times but showing great heart and fight and despite taking longer than expected even at two sets down v Stepanek and two sets to one down against Bourgue the victory was never in doubt.
If Murray continues to come up with tennis like this he does have a chance still
I think it’s ideal that Murray plays Karlovic next. He needs a match to get into this tournament and find some control and I can’t see Karlovic causing the Brit too many problems.
It’s also good Murray see’s the funny side… 🙂
