Earlier today it was announced that Andy Murray and Amelie Mauresmo have split. Mauresmo has been coaching Andy for almost two years however this year has only been present at the Australian Open and Miami.
The former world number one is also the Fed Cup captain of France who are in the final of the competition and with Amelie also becoming a mum last year to be on the tour as a coach for 20+ weeks a year can be tough!
I am sad to hear about the split as it has been a great partnership which was sadly questioned by many not long after they got together however Mauresmo deserves a lot of credit for getting Andy to the top again after slipping down the rankings after his back surgery at the end of 2013.
Andy Murray has said he “learnt a lot” from Amelie during their time together and that she has “been a calming influence in the team”.
Amelie said working with Andy has been a “fantastic experience” but also “dedicating enough time along with the travel has been a challenge”
Murray has said he will take time to consider the next step. The Brit is currently in Rome where he will play Mikhail Kukushkin in round two and of course Roland Garros at the end of the month!
