Sloane Stephens has a pretty remarkable record this season, every tournament she has won a match at she has gone on to win the title. Auckland, Acapulco and Charleston is where she has lifted titles this season but has also lost in round one three times this year at the Australian Open, Indian Wells and Miami.
It is a pretty cool statistic to have, wins do give you confidence and it certainly has been that way for Sloane and to have won three titles so far this year is a great achievement!
I think her latest tournament win in Charleston has been her best week of the season. It’s her first ever title on clay and to have beat some impressive players in Kasatkina, Gavrilova, Kerber and Vesnina on way to lifting the title as fantastic as lifting the title itself.
Not only did Sloane get her hands on another title but also a new car!
Next up for Sloane will most likely be Madrid at the beginning of next month. Last year she lost to Serena in round two so will be hoping to better that and the week after in Rome she has no points to defend after a round one loss to Sabine Lisicki.
2016 has been a good year for Sloane, there is no doubt she will be disappointed with her early losses at the major tournaments in Melbourne, Miami and California and will be hoping to make a bigger impact in Madrid next month!
