The seeds continue to fall in Miami with Rafael Nadal and Stanislas Wawrinka the latest big names to be packing their suitcases early and head off ready for the clay court season.
Stan Wawrinka was pretty much outplayed by the impressive Andrey Kuznetsov who defeated the two time Grand Slam champion 6-4 6-3 to secure only his 2nd top 10 career win. The Russian played a close to perfect match on way to victory, not only did he serve well and attack well at the net but to parts of his game impressed me a lot and they were the forehand which was like a rocket at times and the confidence and composure he had at the back of the court going into the backhand of Stan forcing the Swiss number two on the defensive and to play the sliced backhand instead of the usual backhand we see from Stan.
It took 15 minutes for the first two games to be played between Rafael Nadal and Damir Dzumhur with Dzumhur saving an incredible nine break points it looked like being a marathon match but the marathon was cut short as sadly at 0-3 down in the final set Nadal retired from the match after having the trainer on twice and having his blood pressure checked. At times the Spaniard did seem to be struggling with the heat in Miami and sadly for him his tournament has come to an end which is his first retirement since retiring at the 2010 Australian Open!
