Djokovic and Serena advance despite difficult starts!

World number ones Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams both took a while to get going in their matches last night but the conclusion never seemed in doubt despite Novak Djokovic being a set down against Frantangelo and Serena a break down against Putintseva in the first set but both sealed their place in round four with some good wins.

Novak had to come from a set down to defeat the American after losing the first set 6-2 but went on to win 12 of the next 15 games to seal the win with the world number one advancing but the others on the tour will be keeping a closer eye on future matches at Indian Wells as Djokovic doesn’t usually struggle in these early matches but recently has been dropping a few sets here and there…

Serena Williams really didn’t get going against Putintseva until about the 10th game of the match with the world number one hitting over 20 errors in the first set but then she turned on the style which was quite scary but brilliant to watch! The power Serena produced was exceptional and Yulia just couldn’t deal with it at all!

This is why these two players are world number one, even when they may not be playing their very best tennis they still get the job done.
