Who will be in Great Britain’s next Davis Cup squad?

In just a few days’ time Leon Smith will announce his first squad of the season for Davis Cup as Great Britain prepare their defence of their Davis Cup victory in Belgium back in November but who will be in the squad?

So far 2016 has been a very good year for Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, Dan Evans, Kyle Edmund and Dominic Inglot but not so for James Ward who has been struggling with injury. Leon is spoilt for options with these players as mentioned as well Liam Broady playing well at the moment.

If it was up to be I would probably go with Andy, Jamie, Kyle and Dom.

Andy of course is a no-brainer. This would be his first match since becoming a father and also another no-brainer is the inclusion of Jamie Murray to the team who has won two titles this year including the Australian Open with his new partner Bruno Soares and is now the new world number two!

This is where the decision gets tough. Choose two from Kyle, Dan and Dom. Dom has been playing great doubles since joining up with Robert Lindstedt and continues to improve and with Dom in the side it gives the option to rest Andy on the Saturday and Kyle and Dan have been playing really well recently making finals of tournaments and Kyle ranked inside the top 100 in the world and in qualifying for Dubai!

Who will Leon pick? A decision has to be made on the 23rd of February!
