ATP World Tour Finals Day 5 – Murray/Peers out, Federer and Djokovic through!

Bryan’s scrape past Murray/Peers

Sadly that is that. Jamie Murray and John Peers have now played their last match together and what a match it was! It’s a sad way to end especially as they could be in the semi-finals as they did have five match points but credit where it’s due to the world number one team who showed again why they are the best team winning 6-7 7-6 16-14!!!

Federer through, Nishikori out!

It’s been a roller-coaster tournament for Kei. He was thrashed by Novak and then performed well against Berdych but it was a little too late against Federer who has been exceptional so far this week and of course beat Novak a few days ago!

Bopanna/Mergea through despite defeat!

It’s a match of mixed emotions for Fognini and Bolelli as despite victory they are out with Bopanna/Mergea one of the teams of the tournament so far through to the semi-finals after wins against the Bryans and Murray/Peers. The Italian duo defeated the eigth seeds 6-1 1-6 10-5 but go no further in the competition!

Djokovic through to semi-finals!

It hasn’t been vintage Novak in the last few performances but with the win against Berdych he is in the semi-finals after a 6-3 7-5 win against the Czech number one. All Novak needed to do was win a set and he did that but did struggle to pull away in the second but he will now play the in-form Rafael Nadal on Saturday afternoon…
