In their last tournament together Jamie Murray and John Peers could not have asked for a better start to their campaign in London with an epic three set win against Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini.
There was literally nothing to separate them in the first set with Murray and Peers hardly dropping a point on serve as the set went on to be decided by a tie-break after 6 games apiece without any break points on offer.
At 5-5 in the tie-break the nerves took holding as Bolelli double faulted for 6-5 and the 4th seeds managed to seal the set 7-5.
The second set was a perfect response from the Italian duo as they broke the serve of John Peers to take the lead before going 4-1 up but squandered the lead on Bolelli’s serve before having it gifted back to them after a forehand into the net from Jamie Murray! The Italian’s went on to take the set and it was then decided by a final set tie-break.
First to ten it was and Murray and Peers took an early advantage which was quickly lost but at 9-9 they broke the serve of the 5th seeds to take a 10-9 lead before sealing the win in three fantastic sets of tennis to pick up the first win of the 2015 World Tour Finals!
