ATP World Tour Finals Preview – Andy Murray v David Ferrer

Andy Murray and David Ferrer will be beginning their tournament at 2pm when they meet in their round robin match in London with both having very different years but who will seal the first win of their group?

I don’t think Ferrer has received enough credit for how he has played this year considering he missed a couple of months due to injury and still won 3 ATP 500 tournaments as well as qualifying with a lead over the player in 9th with more than 1000 points.

Andy has had a very good year as well there was a couple of blips earlier on in the season but he’s played very well this year but has struggled against Federer and Djokovic.

In their last meeting on a similar court surface in Paris Andy pretty much ran the show and I expect him to again. He has recently been training on a clay court at Queens with Aljaz Bedene ahead of the Davis Cup final!

I think meeting not long ago and the performance of the two players for me shows where both are right now. Ferrer will cause problems which is obvious but on this court I can only see one winner. It was a similar court surface at the Paris Masters and Murray was quite comfortably during the match.

Obviously Ferrer will give his all as he does in every match and will make things difficult but against Murray on a slow court it may be very difficult to get on top in the rallies and will have to out hit him from the baseline something only Djokovic or Federer could probably do!
