Champions League Preview – Bayern Munich v Arsenal

Arsenal put on the performance of the season not long ago to defeat Bayern Munich and the question is can they repeat that incredible performance in Munich? Every season Arsenal have a match where they blow a side out of the water but then fail to build on it, last season it was against Manchester City at the Etihad and this season against Bayern.

On the weekend Arsenal were very impressive against a Swansea side which has struggled recently winning 3-0 in Wales whereas for the first time this season in the league Bayern Munich failed to score in a 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt but who will pick up an important three points on Wednesday?

Goal drought?

Robert Lewandowski couldn’t stop scoring not long ago and now he can’t score after going a few games without a goal. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him end that drought on Wednesday evening with Bayern so good at home this season.

Injury crisis!

Arsenal are having a little bit of an injury crisis at the moment. They will go into the match with nine first team players out injured with Ospina, Rosicky, Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott, Chamberlain, Welbeck, Wilshere and Bellerin all unavailable leaving them short on options especially up top and through the midfield!

Douglas Costa

One of the signings of the summer has been that of Douglas Costa. He has settled so quickly at Bayern Munich and a number of times this season has been the star of the show with his finishing, crossing, chance creation, pace and what is even more impressive is his skill! For just over about £20 million in the current market it’s a bargain!
