Why I think Garbine Muguruza is favourite to win in Singapore!

She may be the youngest player at the WTA Finals in Singapore starting on the 25th of October but for me right now I think she is the favourite to lift one of the biggest titles on the tennis tour.

Muguruza made her big breakthrough on the tour last year and made world headlines with her win against Serena Williams at Roland Garros and since then has continued to improve and climb the rankings and is now just one point behind Maria Sharapova ranked in 3rd.

This year she has improved her game and right now looks so confident and composed on the court which is why I think she is favourite in Singapore.

Garbine made the final of Wimbledon this year but lost to Serena Williams and since then she went on a bit of a bad run and struggled to find a way. However what I think shows great self-belief and composure is that ability to bounce back and recently Muguruza has been simply unstoppable.

With her style of game she dominates the baseline so well with her aggressive style of play but can also mix it up further up the court.

Muguruza recently won her first title of 2015 and her first WTA Premier Mandatory title in Beijing with some very impressive wins and performances against Radwanska and Bacsinszky and the week before her title win she was the runner-up in Wuhan having to retire in the final against Venus Williams due to injury but bounced back the following week and put on some great performances in Wuhan against three current top 30 players in Sloane Stephens, Ana Ivanovic, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova and Angelique Kerber!

It’s all set up to be an incredible week of tennis in Singapore and I certainly expected Muguruza to be one of the headline makers in the final tournament of the calendar year!
