A win for Timea Bacsinszky would I believe send her to Singapore at the end of the month however the inform Garbine Muguruza who has already qualified for the WTA Finals at the end of the month was on the search for her first title of the year and got off to a very good start!
The Spaniard broke serve at the beginning of the match to go 1-0 up however holding serving seemed to be a bit of an issue in as Muguruza was broken before Timea held serve finishing the game with an ace after collecting some free points after a lot of errors from Muguruza early on. Another break of serve followed after more errors from Muguruza with Timea taking a 3-1 lead but she couldn’t hold serve either and the set was quickly back on serve at 3-2. Muguruza’s wait for a hold of serve went on as she was broken again after double faulting on her fourth break point with these errors costing her but could Bacsinszky consolidate the break? Muguruza managed to hold serve for the first time in the match and suddenly the pressure was back on the Swiss number two to seal the set but she was broken and surprisingly the set was back on serve! Not too long ago Timea led 5-2 and now were level at 5-5 who would take this set?
Muguruza’s turned up. A complete turnaround of events as Muguruza reals off her 4th game in a row to go 6-5 up breaking Timea’s serve with the Spaniard finding her range and forcing the errors but can she serve the set out? Serve it out she did and Muguruza from 2-5 down found her tennis as the set went on to take it 7-5.
Bacsinszky has already won from a set down three times this week will it be a fourth against Muguruza?
A good start was essential for Bacsinszky and she certainly got that as she went 2-0 up and just one point from 3-0 but made more errors and before you know it they were level at 2-2 with nothing to separate them in the set which is how the next few games panned out with Bacsinszky up 4-3 on serve. A very comfortable hold of serve followed by Muguruza with a lovely backhand down the line to close it out with more pressure on Timea at 4-4 to hold serve.
Well well well, at 30-0 Bacsinszky looked on course for another hold of serve but a couple of winners from Muguruza took the game to 30-30 and then a double fault from Timea set up break point which was quickly converted after an error from the Swiss and Muguruza would serve the match something she struggled with against Agnieszka Radwanska in the previous round.
She had no problems serving out the match today and after just an hour and a half Muguruza sealed the win 7-5 6-4 to top off a great week couple of weeks for her on the tour winning her first title of 2015 and her first Premier Mandatory title!
