Garbine Muguruza through to semi-finals in Beijing!

After celebrating her 22nd birthday yesterday with a win from a set down to get to the quarter finals in Beijing and of course qualify for Singapore there was certainly no hangover today for the Spaniard as she cruised through to the semi-finals and on course to win her first title of 2015.

The first set was one way traffic as Muguruza found top gear straight away as the Wimbledon finalist went 4-0 up and had a break point for 5-0 but couldn’t convert as Mattek-Sands got on the board for 1-4 but couldn’t find another hold of serve as Muguruza broke to take the set 6-1 and a place in the semi-finals on the horizon.

Muguruza did look in cruise control as she went 4-2 up in the second set however Mattek-Sands continued to fight and managed to get back to 5-5 however whilst she was serving to stay in the match at 5-6 the Spaniard who remained composed despite losing her lead in the set and she went on to break to win 6-1 7-5.

A good week just keeps getting better for Muguruza who has reached her second semi-final running on the tour and could she make her second final in a row however Muguruza will have to overcome Agnieszka Radwanska first!
