James Ward wins his first match in 96 days!
After 11 losses in the last 96 days James Ward finally has won his first match since defeating Jiri Vesely in the second round of Wimbledon. It comes at a time when James needed to find some wins again with the Davis Cup final at the end of next month but now James needs to get a run of wins going. James began the week at 150 in the world and defeated a player ranked just inside the top 130 in the world.
2nd seed Kyle Edmund defeated in round one!
Another player looking to find some form is Kyle Edmund ranked at 102. Kyle has never played Davis Cup so throwing him in the final would be a first in Davis Cup history? Kyle went 1-0 down in the first set and quickly won the set 6-1 winning 6 games in a row and before you know it lost the second set by the same score line!
The third was much closer with Kyle leading on serve 3-2 before King levelled at 3-3. Sadly Edmund was broken at 4-4 giving Kind a 5-4 lead and despite Edmund saving a couple of match points he couldn’t find the break back and lost the match 6-1 1-6 4-6.
