Belinda Bencic has just made tennis history as the Swiss teenager has become only the second player in almost 10 months to defeat Serena Williams and the youngest player since 2004 when Sharapova beat Serena to beat Serena Williams in a completed match.

In the first set she looked nervous and didn’t really find her rhythm going 6-3 down in the match but was competitive in the final few games and started to show glimpses of her coming into the match didn’t she do just that!

In the second set she stayed with Serena and began getting amazing depth on the ball forcing errors from Serena who didn’t serve well and even produced four double faults in one game losing the second set 7-5 against the Swiss player.

At 5-1 to Bencic in the final set this final looked over however there is one rule in tennis, never ever write off Serena Williams and she fought back to 5-4 on serve and the world number 20 went for it and got the rewards and broke Serena to win 3-6 7-5 6-4!
