Rogers Cup Toronto – Simona Halep defeats Angelique Kerber 6-3 5-7 6-4

Sadly I couldn’t watch the match between Halep and Kerber however I am so pleased to see the Romanian winning big matches again starting with a win against Jelena Jankovic in the second round and now her biggest win since defeating Jankovic in my opinion at Indian Wells defeating Angelique Kerber 6-3 5-7 6-4 to advance to the quarter finals.

I can’t really describe how big of a win this is for Halep especially with her slump in form over the last couple of months before Toronto. These highlights from the WTA show how much it meant to her, just she the celebration at the end!

I wouldn’t say Halep is back to her very best just yet but is most definitely finding her feet again on the court after a difficult time and is playing with a smile on her face which is great to see!

Watching highlights of the match she played well especially off the forehand which is one of the best court coverage shots on the tour. For a place in the semi-finals against either Errani of Tsurenko the Romanian will have to see off Agnieszka Radwanska first.
