Delph, Begovic, Bench, Casillas and Kaka!

Welcome to the bench!

Chelsea have recruited another new member to the bench this summer. Having already brought in Radamel Falcao on loan and given him the number 9 shirt previously worn by Fernando Torres, Franco Di Santo and Steven Sidwell so no pressure to succeed there and he has now been joined by Asmir Begovic.

Begovic in my opinion is one of the top 7 goal keepers in the Premier League so to see him go and sit on the bench and will only probably play FA Cup and Capital One Cup matches is disappointing. Chelsea already have a number of talented players wasting time on the bench in Mikel and Remy and sadly Begovic had joined now. I understand having strength in depth but when a big club comes in for a player use to playing week in week out, is playing regularly more important than being a name on a bench for a big side?

He’s staying! Oh, he’s going…

Fabian Delph has turned down a move to Manchester City and is staying at Aston Villa!!! Oh, he’s changed his mind (again). It has been the transfer story of the last few years as he has an £8 million release clause but decided to stay at Aston Villa and a day after Benteke’s release clause was apparently activated by Liverpool he’s decided to move. Obviously Delph has the right to make his own decision but don’t say a few days ago you’re going to stay and then a couple of days later leave, it just makes you look a bit silly.

Goodbye Casillas! Hello Casilla!

Iker Casillas after 25 years has left Real Madrid and Keylor Navas has now been joined by Kiko Casilla from Espanyol. The signing of Casilla does ask a number of questions about their pursuit of David De Gea as it does now look like Navas will be the first choice and Casilla as back up? I don’t think this will be the end of this transfer saga and I wouldn’t be surprised if De Gea joined Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.

Kaka’s still got it!

In my opinion Kaka was one of the best players in the world when he was at AC Milan. His skill, strength and finishing was world class. I remember watching Manchester United v AC Milan in the Champions League years ago and despite my disappointment in Manchester United being knocked out, the performance of Kaka was insanely brilliant and he showed the other night he’s still got it!
