A few days into the transfer window opening both Liverpool and Arsenal have finally filled problem positions which they have struggled to solve over recent years.
Over recent years we have seen Szczesny, Almunia, Ospina, Martinez, Viviano, Fabianski and Mannone try to make the position their own but have failed to impress and make mistakes. After spending 11 years at Chelsea Petr Cech has left moving to Arsenal and is the safe pair of hands they need in goal. Cech is still one of the league’s best goal keepers despite rarely playing last season due to Courtois return from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid. At 33 years old Cech still has a number of years ahead of him as a top level goal keeper and can even helped out Szczesny who has struggled throughout the years making a number of mistakes.
Liverpool have also solved a problem position by going on another shopping trip to Southampton. Liverpool’s signing from Southampton haven’t been that great so far but I expect Clyne to shine at right back. Over the past few years it has been a problem position with Johnson, Manquillo and Flanagan rotating in this position due to injuries and we also saw promising midfielder Emre Can play there last season! I think for about £12.5 million it is a good deal for Liverpool and is a very exciting signing!
